Source text - English Dear School Principal,
I would like to present to you our new educational program, Chess and English, a unique and pioneer program to teach “English as a Foreign Language” (EFL) in primary education through learning and playing chess.
The Chess and English program is based on the belief that chess offers answers to many of the educational challenges of the 21st century and we aim to be the pioneers to teach English through chess in primary schools worldwide.
Our educational program Chess and English combines all the benefits of EFL and chess education. We believe that through playing chess the English class is joyful for the children, and that through learning the basics and values of chess, children will improve concentration, logic, social and decision-making skills.
Chess and English can be an effective tool to make your English class more colourful and enjoyable where children are more motivated to participate. I invite you to offer Chess and English to your P5, first and second grade elementary students as either an extra-school activity or as an integration in the English classes (for example taking up 1 English class per week).

Nos gustaría presentarle nuestro nuevo programa educativo, Ajedrez e Inglés, un programa único y pionero para enseñar “Inglés como Lengua Extranjera” (“English as a Foreign Language”, EFL) en la educación primaria a través del aprendizaje y el juego del ajedrez.
El programa Ajedrez e Inglés está basado en la creencia que el ajedrez ofrece respuestas a muchos de los retos educativos del siglo XXI, y nuestro objetivo es ser los pioneros en la enseñanza del inglés a través del ajedrez en todas las escuelas primarias del mundo.
Nuestro programa educativo Ajedrez e Inglés combina todas las ventajas de EFL y de la formación de ajedrez. Creemos que la clase de inglés, a través del juego del ajedrez, puede ser alegre para los niños, y que aprendiendo las bases y los valores del ajedrez los niños mejorarán su concentración, lógica, habilidades sociales y de toma de decisiones.
Ajedrez e Inglés puede ser una herramienta eficaz para que tu clase de inglés sea más colorida y divertida cuando los niños están más motivados a participar. Le invitamos a ofrecer Ajedrez e Inglés a vuestras 3º, 4º y 5º de primaria, bien como una actividad extraescolar o bien integrada en las clases de inglés (por ejemplo, integrando el programa en una clase de inglés por semana).

Source text - English Era un día normal en la Casa Blanca, intentando evitar la Tercera Guerra Mundial. Para tratarse de tan alta ocupación, el Despacho Oval estaba, en cambio, extrañamente poco concurrido. El Presidente, en mangas de camisa, de pie junto a uno de los dos sillones que flanquean la mesita central sobre la alfombra con su sello aquilino bordado; su secretario de Estado, recién aterrizado en Dulles; el de la Armada; el aún se podría decir que nuevo director de la CIA, nombrado hacía solo unos meses; y el director de Inteligencia Nacional.
Y nadie más. Los asesinatos de Estado cuanta menos gente los conozca… mejor.
Ningún periodista preguntaría por la reunión tras su término. No estaba en la agenda del Presidente para ese día. El procedimiento para sacar tiempo oculto entre citas y desplazamientos del Águila era perfectamente dominado por su gabinete. Como piso sin botón en el trayecto de un ascensor, era una práctica que se realizaba varias veces al mes, aunque en pocas ocasiones con tanta trascendencia histórica como ese día en el 1600 de Pennsylvania Avenue.
Translation - Spanish It was just another day at the White House, trying to avoid World War 3. Considering the high level of activity, the Oval Office was strangely rather quiet. The President, in his shirtsleeves and standing next to one of the two armchairs that flanked the small center table on top of the embroidered eagle seal; his Secretary of State, who had just flown back in to Dulles; his Secretary of the Navy; the still-new Head of the CIA, sworn in just a few months earlier; and the Director of National Intelligence.
And no-one else. When dealing with State assassinations, the fewer in the know… the better.
No journalist would ask about the meeting once it had drawn to a close. It was not to be seen in the President’s agenda for that day. His Office had fully mastered the procedures for finding hidden time between POTUS appointments and travel commitments. Like a floor with no button on an elevator’s vertical path, the practice was carried out several times a month, though hardly ever with the same historical weight as that day in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
