English to Chinese: Hypnotherapy Course
Source text - English Welcome to our Accelerated Hypnotherapy Course. As you progress through this program, you will acquire a skill that will remain with you for the rest of your life. This class is based upon unique methods that have been developed from more than 20 years of experience in hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis is as old as civilization itself, and has been practiced under numerous labels since time immemorial. However, it was not until 1958, when it was officially recognized by the American Medical Association, that Hypnotherapy began to come into its own. Since then, great strides have been made, but we know that they are nothing compared to achievements that will come in the future as new and exciting uses of Hypnotherapy come to light.
These classes are designed to be a hands-on learning experience. We encourage you to ask questions if you do not understand the material presented. Please ask for the instructor’s help if you have difficulty with any of the techniques demonstrated in class. Our goal is to provide a safe environment in which you are allowed to make mistakes and feel comfortable knowing that there is a trained professional nearby to assist you. With the instructor’s help you will develop the skills you need.
After completing this course, you will be qualified to be a professional Hypnotherapist and may immediately begin practicing as such. However, additional education, culminating in a Doctoral degree in Hypnotherapy, is available at American Pacific University for the student who is seriously interested in further knowledge, and enhanced professional status, in their chosen field.
Now please, sit back, relax, and enjoy the course!

English to Chinese: HOW PURE IS AN ESSENTIAL OIL
Source text - English Aromatherapists should expect the supplier to know the botanical name of the plants from which the oils have been extracted, where the plants were grown, whether organically grown or wild; and whether the essential oils were extracted by distillation.
Because the molecules making up the essential oil of the plants are highly complex, Essential Oils should not be tampered with, adulterated, or the components separated. Trained Aromatherapists will use the oils, properly blended and in their natural, unaltered state, and will be most careful in selecting the supplier of the oils, being aware of the practice of adulteration with synthetic or sometimes other, cheaper essential oils. Be aware of adulteration. For instance, Attar of Roses may be skillfully adulterated by the addition of inferior natural rose oils or by synthetic materials.
Blends can be made by mixing various pure and natural oils, for example, an inferior Rosemary oil can be given a better 'rosemary' aroma by the addition of Camphor oil! Blends may also consist of synthetic materials mixed with pure oils to give a more pronounced aroma; and, of course, these are much cheaper. While Blends may be quite suitable for perfumery, these do not have the correct therapeutic qualities needed for aromatherapy. Only the purest oils will give the desired effect and when these are combined with therapeutic massage, are especially beneficial. Therefore, when mixing oils for use in aromatherapy it is vitally important to use the correct concentration of the purest essential oils.

English to Chinese: Retirement Detailed field: Human Resources
Source text - English
It is with mixed emotions that I'm announcing Joseph’s decision to retire from YY Company at the end of this year in order to begin the next chapter of his professional life as president and CEO of XX Company.
Joseph has headed the Tax Department since he joined YY Company 14 years ago, and under his leadership the results have been exceptional. But all of us also recognize that Joseph’s leadership as YY Company‘s senior vice president - Finance has extended well beyond the tax department. He has been a valued colleague and mentor for the Corporate staff and also for the divisions. We will all miss his wise counsel.
Since Joseph's retirement will not take place until the end of the year, we'll be able to have a smooth transition over the next several months. This will also give us time to plan an appropriate send-off, with details to follow.

English to Chinese: FRAGRANCE AND THE MIND Detailed field: Medical: Health Care
Source text - English An aroma speaks a colourful language of its own. Scents can be fleeting; momentary in their recognition, hidden in the foliage of our memory. A single odour molecule may activate memories and propel us towards the past, remembering.
Fragrance processing happens in the Limbic System, the seat of our emotional world. As fragrance does not connect in the logical brain, it is difficult to define. Our emotions are involved with the deeper, inner brain. The link between the olfactory and memory centres are dynamically charged, covering time and distance.
The sense of smell is many times more sensitive than that of taste. When we inhale, odour molecules float back into the nasal cavity behind the bridge of the nose to the nasal mucous membranes, each about 3/4cm in size. These mucous membranes carry slender nerve cells bearing microscopic hairs called cilia; which are grouped in the nasal area and extend through the cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone behind the septum and into the interior of the skull.
These cells fire impulses into the brain's olfactory bulb where they wave in the air like sea anemones. On the surface of the cilia are tiny depressions, receptor sites of chemical structure, whose chemicals allow molecules of certain odours to fit into them exactly. Musky odours have disk shaped molecules that fit into an elliptical bowl-like site on the neuron and peppermint odours have a wedge-shaped molecule that fits into a V -shaped site. This is how the brain recognises different odours.
