CV/Resume CV/Resume (DOC)
I would like to obtain employment as a freelance translator (Chinese-English; English-Chinese) using my advanced Chinese proficiency and background in linguistics as well as my skills in journalism, simultaneous oral translation and written translation. Currently, I am participating in the US-government funded Chinese-Flagship Program, an intense two-year advanced program in professional Chinese. In addition to my high level of fluency in Mandarin Chinese, I have significant experience in oral and written translation (English/Mandarin,
Mandarin/English); in July 2007, I was hired by the UN-based Family Policy Center Conference group as a simultaneous interpreter for their conference at
Brigham Young University. In addition, my past work includes translation of patent application documents for a client with Multiling Corporation, which is based in Utah. I also have experience in editing (English) and journalism. My areas of specialization include economics, law and policy, medicine, literature, and language pedagogy. I have used the following software programs as a freelance translator: Trados, CAT tools, Quark Express, Windows, and Déjà vu.
