Professional practices Sarah-Leah Pimentel endorses's Professional Guidelines.
I am a professional Portuguese-English and Spanish-English translator with 12 years' experience in the field of the translation of media and news content from a range of fields including current affairs, economics, sports and other topics, mainly in Lusophone Africa. In addition to this, I have also been involved in the translation of religious literature for over 10 years.I'm proficient in the use of a range of CAT tools such as SDL, MemoQ, CafeTran, Lilt, OmegaT, and Wordfast, and can perform other technical skills such as creating and curating TMs, processing large corpuses for alignment and term extraction purposes, and have worked in several terminology projects. I expect to complete my ECQA terminology certification by October. I am of Portuguese descent and have spent some time in Brazil, so I am familiar with both forms of the language. I am also very familiar with the particular uses of local expressions in Mozambique and Angola.I am currently working in a company, but will be available to pursue freelance translation full time in the first quarter of 2019. In the meantime, I am available for shorter translation projects. Being based in South Africa, I am 5-6 hours ahead of the Americas, so could also complete projects that may have overnight deadlines, especially over weekends.
