About me
Certified Court Interpreter,
(English-Spanish, Spanish-English)

Interpreting: I am currently the managing court interpreter in the 5th Judicial District in Colorado, (Vail area). I have six years of experience in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting in courts throughout Missouri, Illinois, and Colorado. I also have experience in conference interpreting, serving unions (SIT '07), corporations (Purina '07), and non-for profit organizations (MADD '05, '06). My community interpreting experience is in hospitals, where I have interpreted ER cases, Deliveries, and Surgeries.

Translation: I currently work extensively with marketing agencies and attorneys in St. Louis. My primary experience is in legal translation, both from courts and attorneys, and the banking industry, although my education background is in the social sciences.

Research: I received a Fulbright Scholarship to research and refine the court interpreting model in Guatemala, by working with the Universidad de Rafael Landivar. I did research on access to interpreters for K'iche' speaking Mayans, interpreter quality and training programs, and the theoretical issues surrounding translatability between genetically unrelated languages in a highly conventionalized sphere such as the legal process. This research was an extension of previous research done for my thesis at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, which looked at defendant comprehension of standardized legal terminology.
