There are no words too hard to translate -- but there are plenty translators too lazy to check. I’m not one of them!

About me
Tłumacz to 1% natchnienia i 99 procent wypocenia.
Translator is 1% inspiration and ninety nine perspiration.

My name is Daniel Gorbaczuk and I am a professional interpreter, translator and linguist.

Over the course of many years that I spent researching translation theories AND implementing its findings, I came to acknowledge professional code of conducted and pledged to work by it. The principle to translate without loss, change, distortion or embellishments as faithfully as possible became my dormant battle cry every time I ventured on an assignment.

Being a graduate of a renown UNESCO Chair for Translation Studies at Jagiellonian University, I was aware, particularly as a simultaneous interpreter, how fragile effective communication can be.

Therefore, I was not afraid to spent time thinking about best translation technique to adopt when faced with language untranslatability, lexical deficiency or syntax transposition problems.<

And obviously I question the outcome each time.

Did I manage to communicate NOT only the informational content, but also the feelings and attitudes of the original text. Seemingly, did I re-express the flavour and impact of the original in forms that are consistent with normal usage in the receptor language.

Further, the necessity to familiarise myself with the Irish legal system became seriously compelling prerogative. I began researching Torts and Law of Equity as well as acquainted myself with statuary rights of a citizen.

I have been working as a full-time freelance Translator and Interpreter for over 6 years now. During this time, I learned to pay great attention to the accuracy of translation and became aware of subtle differences in meaning shades.

At present I am based in Cork, Ireland and work both for translation agencies and individual clients. However, just recently together with my fellow colleagues I set up Independent Translators Group; body of professionals who are Interpreters for life with necessary qualifications, experience, skills and knowledge.

Right now, I work on contractual basis for Court Services, Hospitals, Garda Stations, Department of Social and Family Affairs and Safe Pass Authorities. I interpret during cultural events, induction courses, deliveries, participate in telecommunication projects and assist heavy industry publications.

My experience in the field of translation ranges form health & safety sector to private and business letters, insurance certificates and manuals, as well as website localization, brochures, dissertations, leaflets, forestry and fishery publications.

My education dates back to 2001, when I was awarded BA in ENGLISH, then followed by MASTERS DEGREE in 2003 and finally POSTGRADUATE school for simultaneous interpreters from Jagiellonian University in the following year. In the course of studies, I had to demonstrate excellent command of English, develop analytical thinking and write clear-cut reports.

I held full time translation position with AIB during merger with Polish Bank Zachodni WBK, specialist interpreter with MITTAL STEEL POLAND and participated in heavy industry consultation in KAZACHSTAN, worked as soft skill trainer for ACENTIC LTD in WROCLAW and managed CALLAN METHOD SCHOOL.
