I am writing to offer my service as Mandarin Interpreter/Chinese Translator. I am currently working as a legal assistant at a litigation law firm-part time.
Born and raised in China, Mandarin is my first language. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Sichuan Union University in China, which provides me with a solid foundation in speaking and writing Chinese. I understand Cantonese and familiar with both the traditional and simplified Chinese characters. Nine years ago, I came to the United States to continue my education; I have a Master閳ユ獨 degree in Computer Information System from Golden Gate University. I have mostly worked in English speaking environments. Following our advertisement in the Chinese Yellow Page, our firm started having more and more Chinese clients, and I started performing interpretation and translation assignments. Last year, I had an intensive six-week training course of interpretation, English to Chinese and Chinese to English, simultaneous and consecutive, at the University of Hawaii. I am familiar with legal language and litigation procedures, and have successfully passed the California Court Registered Interpreter written exam in October 2007. I have simultaneously interpreted in client-attorney meetings and consecutively interpreted in clients閳#65533;depositions and mediations. I am graduating from paralegal program this semester.
My distinctive skills, knowledge, and experience I have gained throughout my education and work make me a strong candidate for this translator position.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
