First started translating in 1989 with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Currently two books were translated and published. The first book translated was `Language' by Leonard Bloomfield and the first edition was published in 1992 by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. My second project was a translation on a book entitled `Field Linguistics' by William J. Samarin which was printed in 1993, also by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Other projects include manual on safety, camera, medical (heart surgery, laser treatment),legal (Ordain & Warrant), SOP (Human Resource- Grants and Donations, Expenses for Meetings, Investigations on Allegations of Misconduct), synopsis (Astro - entertainment/ media) and glossaries. Currently working on e-commerce website (Malay-English), referee: Ayob Salleh.
Education and professional background: Holder of Diploma in ESL (UM), B. Ed TESL with minor in English Literature and M.A. in Educational Planning and Economics (London). Graduated with my Dip. in Professional Translation (DBP) in 2007 and I joined ProZ.com this year. Working experience: I've worked as an English Language teacher in primary and secondary schools, worked as education administrator in areas of human resource development and planning, Information Technology for special children, Web designer and web database administrator, publishing and photography. Currently, working as e-commerce marketing manager for a travel & tourism company with responsibilities in developing the company's website (view www.andalusia2u.com), setting up relevant e-commerce infrastructure for company, promotions, advertisement and publishing. I love photography and used my SLR a lot. Quite proficient in web publication software in particular Microsoft Expression and Coffee Cup plus working knowledge on Photoshop CS2.
In terms of work rate: could accomplish 3,000 words per day.Other areas of interests include linguistics, commerce/business, culinary, sports, agriculture, IT and religion (sufism, particularly). However, these interests do not restrict me from exploring into new areas which I'm happy to learn about and would dedicate myself in ensuring quality translation products.
