I have a joint hons. degree, 2:1 in French and German from the University of Bradford, in the UK, 1977. I have been a Member of the Institute of Linguists for French since 1982 and German since 1983. I was a founder member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in 1986 and became a full Member in 1989, having passed the Institute of Linguists' Translators' Final examination in 1986. I started studying English law and insurance in 1983 and, after a period of part time freelance work, resumed in 1996. I thus became a Member of the Society of Technicians in Insurance in 1999, having completed the Certificate of Insurance Practice in 1998. I have successfully completed the CPD required of MSTI's for 1999-2000. Thus I specialise in civil law (e.g. employment and other contracts, leases etc.) and insurance. I am a member of the British Insurance Law Association, i.e. the British chapter of AIDA, and the Chartered Insurance Institute and its Insurance Institute of London. I have been a committee member of the Technical Translation Group of Aslib since 1987 and was a founder member of the Kent Business Network in 1999. I am a member of the Financial Services Consulants' Group and attend seminars organised by all the above organisations.

The subjects I have studied include law, introduction to insurance, legal liabilities and insurances of liability (negligence etc.), principles and practice of insurance, commercial property insurance (fire, theft, engineering, all risks etc.) and long-term business (health insurance, life assurance and pensions). I have an up-to-date collection of insurance textbooks.
I generally charge 55 pounds sterling per 1,000 words counting in English, with a min, fee ranging from 17.50 for 250 to 45.00 for 750 words, and 20 pounds per hour for revision, with no extra charges for evening, weekend or specialised work.
