I have a BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art, and have lived in Italy since 1986. I've been editing/proofreading since 1995 when I worked for a European diabetes journal, and doing freelance translating since 2000. Since I was a nerdy kid who read Roget's Thesaurus for fun, this is a great profession for me.
I have various clients in Rome, Torino and Trieste, but most of my work comes from the local academic world and the National Research Council. Of course, I still paint in my studio as I can!
Although I proofread an entire medical book for Springer last year, I actually like shorter assignments, since my work mostly consists of revising scientific research papers and translating literary abstracts. I hate urgent projects! |
