My name is Thaíse Lessa. As a native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese, I've been working as a freelance translator for the past 6 years.
During the academic years, I engaged in research programs, tutoring and assisted the professors at the "Translation and Proofreading" office from the Languages Department dealing with all sorts of texts to be published and translations for academic purposes. I spent 19 months living in the USA in which I had the opportunity to improve my language skills being in contact with native speakers and enrolling in several courses at famous institutions such as Harvard University (Cambridge, MA).
As a freelance translator, I have dealt with translation and proofreading to and from English and Brazilian Portuguese of technical texts, patents, scientific articles and abstracts for publishing. Other jobs include translation of movie scripts, voice-over for publicity material, translation of music lyrics for local artists, websites and other kinds of texts. I was recently added to the database of two great international companies specialized in localization and subtitling. In a few weeks I'll be finishing the translation of a 200-page book which will be printed and distributed in Brazil by a well known Christian publishing house.
