Translation - Greek A 20-year-old man was abducted at 6:30pm Sunday night in Laval. Police were alerted by witnesses and the victim himself, and two suspects were arrested an hour later.
The victim was hit with a hammer and put in the trunk of an automobile on Cartier Boulevard. Police indicated that the man telephoned 9-1-1, along with several witnesses, and was treated for minor injuries to the head.
The police have found the vehicle and the two suspects with the aid of a license plate number supplied by witnesses. The two suspects, also in their twenties, were interviewed.
Both the victim and the suspects, who were involved in street gangs, know each other. However, the motive of the attack remains unclear because the victim refused to collaborate with the police. "We need to get to know the victim, who is recalcitrant and uncooperative," said the spokeswoman for the Citizen Protection Service of Laval, Nathalie Laurin. "Therefore, we will try to make relationships with the street gangs for the two suspects and possibly discover that it could be a drug debt or a debt of money, or something like that which caused the attack."
The two suspects should be accused Monday morning at the courthouse in Laval. They will be accused of kidnapping, abduction, and assault with a weapon. The police are looking into a third person, a woman who was with the two suspects at the time of the abduction. The search for the woman has not yet been fruitful.
