In my academic career as an International Business major with a minor in Spanish at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona I have engaged in a combination of cross-cultural and interesting courses that have provided me in hands on experiences in life like business world issues, interacting with various people from diverse backgrounds, simulating real business world situations, brand equity research, and project management. After reading about the position, I am certain that I could make an immediate contribution to your company.
My career plan is to provide any expertise to the company and work with others internationally on creating new and inimitable proposals that would aid the company. I have established a strong foundation by honing my research and analytical skills through the courses taken at the academic level. As an IWDSA member at my university, I provided faculty and students with researched data on various companies, as well as artistic marketing design illustrations for meetings and seminars. In addition, the IWDSA members are all from diverse and interesting backgrounds, which allow me to learn and work with international people; this way we get more inspiration in providing new and advanced material.
Currently, I work for Hot Topic Inc. (Head Quarters), located in City of Industry, Ca. Hot Topic Inc., a “gothic store,” not quite! “Everything about the Music,” is our motto and we follow through with it. We were born from Rock and Rock Tees. As an Internet Marketing Analyst, I deal with internet weekly/monthly data for Hot Topic, Torrid, and Shockhound. I create data result reports on internet sales, trends, fashion, music, etc. I work closely with Commission Junction, an advertising program company, and with over 7,000 affiliates for Hot Topic, Torrid, and Shockhound. I have relationships with our top affiliates and reach out to affiliates/web sites that relate to Hot Topic, Torrid, and Shockhound in order to launch our advertisements and special promotions to them. I create most of the art work for promotions and advertisements using Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Illustrator, Image Ready, etc., with the help of our Web Design teams. I am lead person for the partnership and relationship with Buzznet.com. Establishing a relationship with Buzznet has allowed us to receive more exposure and revenue while driving customers to both Buzznet.com and Hottopic.com. Three different web pages were created on Buzznet.com for promotion and marketing purposes for Hot Topic. During my time here I have been able to increase revenue by 20% +. I have created and initiated various promotions for some/all affiliates that have helped in the increase of our internet sales. Presently, I continue to learn and study business aspects of our corporate life and will prolong my abilities and knowledge with experiences that may come my way.
As a Web Design Assistant for Tekcetera Inc., a technology solutions company based in Fountain Valley, Ca. I created and designed many company web sites using Sitewizard, designed logos using HTML, Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, Adobe Illustrator CS3, and Adobe Photoshop CS3, produced and edited news media content for various company web sites, in addition to re-sizing and reformatting images for web site production, used Adobe Flash to create artistic and stylish sites for a quantity of companies, and continued to learn and attain knowledge in everything I accomplished.
I also worked as a Marketing Coordinator for The Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education at Cal Poly. I retained knowledge about various and diverse races and people. I had the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of people daily, while working hard to market our center and the programs we have for our students. I designed and updated the centers webpage and for other organizations related to the center, as well. Also, I worked for Helica Bio-systems Inc. in Fullerton, Ca, as a Marketing Web Developer Intern. My duties were to maintain Helica’s online site, create and maintain search engines collaborated with Google.com, create and design brochures for Helicas bio-systems products, share product information with the company’s customers and business partners, among other duties. In addition to working at the center, I did a part time position as a Photograph Journalist and Marketing Representative for SHOCK Magazine, which was based in New York. I photographed shocking images about real events and situations, created online sites using Facebook.com and MySpace.com to market to students and friends, and promoted and marketed the magazine to fellow students on campus by passing out free magazines, creating posters and flyers, etc. This allowed me to get to know the students at my school and it was a great way to network.
