Cozette immigrated to Canada with her family at an early age, has lived in Scarborough-Agincourt since 1991 and became involved in community politics at a young age.
After finishing high school in Scarborough, Cozette attended York University’s Glendon campus where she would receive a degree in Political Science with a focus on local politics.
It was at York when she got her first taste of politics, interning in her final year as a Councillor assistant at Toronto City Hall. This job allowed her to expand her understanding of the political system through a first-hand involvement in many local issues. She continued on this political path after graduation, securing a senior position with a federal cabinet minister.
In this role, Cozette learned more about Canada’s immigration process and the many diverse cultures in Toronto, especially in Ward 39, Scarborough-Agincourt. She also worked closely with other municipalities on federal and local issues.
Cozette then moved to the private sector but maintained her interest in public policy as a senior government relations consultant at a private firm. She worked with all three levels of government, focusing on key community issues like health, transit and business.
Cozette speaks four languages. She is a daughter, a sister, a wife, a proud mother of two young boys and vice president of the Parent Teachers Association.

Everyone knows bullying is wrong but sadly bullying continues every single day. Verbal, social, physical and cyber bullying is present and is all around us. We should never be silent as this is hurting our children and students as they attend schools, colleges and community centres. There are many connected solutions to bullying. We must identify and intervene early, we must build healthy and secure relationships, we must educate and we must demonstrate through leadership the responsibility of our actions. Basically we need to be relentless.

Maybe by luck, or by chance, or by love, I have chosen Anxi County's Tie Kuan Yin tea as my life-long pursuit, with unparalleled devotion and passion: the making of what is known as the ultimate brand of Tie Kuan Yin tea, reaching to a level that embraces heaven , earth, humanity and Tao. I named the tea as ChinaLiu’s Tea Tie Kuan Yin. I have also given it an alias: ChinaLiu's Tie Kuan Yin tea culture.
My mother, now over 80 years old, has devoted all her life to growing tea. For myself, I learned the skill from her at the age of 13. In the same year, my father passed away and I had to drop out of school to help with manual work in the family. In those days, we were all making green tea, black tea, and jasmine tea. Later on, I switched to growing Tie Kuan Yin! It is its uniqueness both in character and in style that I have found it so immensely adorable. It displays the colour of green tea, carries the full body of black tea, and gives out the aroma of jasmine, very much like the natural fragrance of orchid, so refreshing and deep. It is unique in character because it is a blend of all virtues. It is unique in style because the same sample of tea leaves can evolve different tastes and fragrance when processed in defferent time period and baked in varying lengths of time.
Indeed, the name ChinaLiu’s Tea Tie Kuan Yin bears historical significance. By ChinaLiu, it refers to the founding emperor, Liu Bang, of the Han Dynasty in ancient China. As a descendant of Liu Bang, I can rightfully incorporate the name into my tea. While the Han Dynasty is now more than 20 centuries past, my feelings towards the founding emperor is no different from what a pious son pining for his lost father the other day. Over the 2,000 years, humanity witnessed huge vicissitudes of life, but what hasn't changed is our deep bond with our ancestors, and the Tie Kuan Yin is the embodiment of this inborn bond.
Now, after 20 years’ undertaking in the tea business, I am fully aware that one has to nurture the tea plant with love and passion before one can have a good harvest. In order to produce the ultimate brand of Tie Kuan Yin tea, the culmination of heaven , earth, humanity and Tao, it even takes a life-long passion.
Day in, day out, in scorching heat and freezing cold, I have toiled on my tea farm, and travelled far and wide for the tea trade. I have suffered sleepless nights, wrecking my brain, to improve the processing of my tea, to produce the best Tie Kuan Yin ever. The making of Tie Kuan Yin involves a dozen or so procedures that the tea farmer must attend to very carefully, including planting tea trees, picking up the tea leaves, sun-shining the tea leaves, cooling the tea leaves, shaking the tea leaves, frying the tea leaves, kneading the tea leaves, pressing the tea leaves, scattering the tea leaves, baking the tea leaves, and seeking out the peduncles. Any inadvertent mistake will compromise the integration of the system, the perfectness of the procedures and the quality of the final product. My passion is the establishment of my Tie Kuan Yin making skills through a flawless integration of the age-old, traditional tea-making skills with modern-day technology. Take tea planting as an example. We have developed a tea plantation in a mountainous region between 600 metres and 1,200 metres above sea level, devoid of pollution sources, surrounded by a wide stretch of forestry, where birds chirp and roam in the skies, flowers joggle on the earth, and streams run across. The scent of fresh air seems to tell us this may well be a fairyland that promises much blessings. In addition, we use no chemical as fertilizers. The fertilizer we use is a mix of cow and goat dung, dried grass and leaves, left fermented for 6 months, and the tea leaves that grow out of the mix is more appealing than ever.
As a tea farmer, I produce tea with all my heart, and with my tea, may the world enjoy the blessing of prosperity.

I worked initially as a freelance translator and editor in an advertising firm in China while pursuing my M.A. degree in Journalism in Wuhan University, China. Before that, I graduated from Zhongnan University of Economcis and Law (formerly known as Zhongnan University of Finance and Economics) majoring in International Trade.
Later on, I left China for Australia, and entered Macquarie University, Sydney, where I obtained my second Master Degree in Translation and Interpreting and the status of NAATI certified translator in Australia.
Having spent more than 8 years in two Chinese media in Toronto as a news translator following my immigration to Canada in 2006, I went back to college to take the paralegal diploma program. Today, I am a licensed LSUC paralegal.
In Canada, I am also an ATIO/CTTIC certified translator, a status similar to Australia’s NAATI, in addition to my previously-acquired qualification as an ILSAT certified community interpreter.
I am currently working as Editor-in-Chief in a Chinese weekly journal in Toronto. As an Editor-in-Chief, I keep abreast of what is happening in Canadian political, business and judicial realms, as well as maintain and update my professional skills on a daily basis. Before that I was a part-time MPP constituency assistant. That role enabled me to learn how to interact with ministry offices, local administrative and community organizations while making the most of my bilingual skills.
Currently, my translation and interpreting service covers business, political, literary, academic and legal matters, such as translating business or/and political biography, reports, introduction, promotion materials, brochure, news release, flyer, academic report, essays, video subtitle etc.; translating affidavit, plaintiff’s claim, defendant’s defence, shareholder agreement and other legal documents; and interpreting lawyer consultation, interpreting in settlement conference, hearings and trials.
