I am also presently searching for a publisher interested in publishing translations of current Japanese poetry in the US.
I have studied and translated Japanese on both a professional and academic basis. And, as part and parcel of academic experience, I have written multiple articles in Japanese and translated many short stories from Japanese to English. My present focus is Japanese modernist literature, and I am searching for a publisher of translations of current Japanese poetry in the US.
I hope to be involved in projects that require and demand attention to narrative flow and require the translator to constantly feel the boundaries of what is translatable, which is a constant that is peculiar to the arts. To date, I have translated numerous short stories of the author Dazai Osamu, loads of academic and administrative materials, and the webpage of Koygen Performer Ogasawara Tadashi
My professional translation/interpretation experience is varied. To-date my actual workplace experience was at the software company Square-Enix in Tokyo, Japan. At Square my duties included translating reports on software glitches from Japanese to English as well as translating website content/updates. I also have experience troubleshooting via the internet in typed Japanese. I have also undertaken liaison work at a small university in the Chubu region of Japan where English-Japanese and Japanese-English interpretation was required.
I love translating Japanese into English, and I welcome any opportunity to assist those who require the services of a translator who has a literary sensibility and penchant for accuracy, and am prepared to do so in any digital medium and/or in person. And, I also welcome discussions questions, comments, and conversation.
For more information, consultation, please send a message and I will be sure to respond to your inquiries in a timely fashion.
