Wee's first job was news broadcast journalist at a radio station. He later ventured into print journalism.
He worked as a correspondent in Paris for an Anglo-French paper.
During his stint in Paris, he also wrote articles for the Financial Times, The Independent, Scotsman, The Australian and the South China Morning Post. He also wrote for Flaunt and Blackbook.
The stories he writes run across a wide spectrum of interests. He has tackled fashion; interviewed fashion photographer Helmut Newton, and Gallic couturier/enfant terrible Jean-Paul Gaultier. He has penned investigative pieces on subjects such as the world’s first computer hacking school and the subversive French swingers clubs. He also has an eye for history and culture; in one article, he recounts the tale of the twin literary cafes which played host to surrealists and existentialists post-Belle Epoque; Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots.
Wee enjoys novels with emotionally complex protagonists. Other genres of interest include biography, history and philosophy.
Travelling is more of a distraction rather than passion. He ponders over the benchmarks of social behaviour, especially the question of morality.
He graduated with an MA in Writing from the University of Warwick. He has published fiction in the Broadcast 2: Picture Thinking & Other Stories anthology. Wee is also the author of The Narcissist. |
