Over more than three decades I have worked in three universities in three different countries. I started my career as a research assistant, then a university professor in Iraq /Basrah University (1974-1998). In Jordan, I worked as a university professor for Applied Science University (1998-2000). From 2000-2008 I worked for Ajman University of Science & Technology. I have taught a variety of courses relating to Linguistics & Translation. I was also the supervisor of a number of postgraduate theses on translation. In addition to teaching, I also had the chance of tranlating a wide range of documents and also interpreting for the institutes I have worked for. My position as a university professor teaching translation courses gave me the chance of training a large number of students who have already become translators in Iraq, Jordan and the UAE. My experience with translation started in 1974 as a soldier in the Iraqi Army, then as an interpreter in 1976 when I was appointed as a research assistant in the Faculty of Arts/Basrah University, as I was asked from time to time to accompany visitors of the University who came from Uk and USA.
