Translation - English Seated behind the wheel of her new Mini BMW, she had been making good time for the past 15 minutes. The road was winding, but she knew it perfectly, since she had taken it numerous times. Her investigation had made progress. However, as with most journalists of her caliber when they were not yet sure of having sufficiently nailed down their facts, she had preferred to say nothing about it to the one she loved most. It would have been pointless to worry him, if her suspicions had not proved well founded. Today, she had finally pulled together all of the pieces she needed to support her theory. The portfolio sitting on the passenger seat held the entire collection of papers and photo documentation she needed to wrap up her story successfully. Tonight, she would tell him everything. The threat was too great, he needed to know.
The car swept through curve after curve, the tires squealing around the turns. The pleasure of having the fruit of her research finally within her grasp excited her and made her want to get home even faster. Then, the radio program she had been listening to, and humming along with, began to break up, spoiling one of her favorite songs. Irritated, she glanced over at her car radio to try to adjust the frequency. Almost without thinking, for a brief moment she let the road surface disappear from her field of vision. The audio never did improve, but she had to get back to her driving and not take any chances. She lifted her head. As her gaze passed the level of the dashboard, she was completely surprised. Straight ahead of her, a few dozen yards away, a car with its high-beams on seemed to be driving on the right side of the road, headed in her direction. The white lines were going by too fast and the blinding headlights kept her from making decisions that were crucial in that situation. Impact was unavoidable, the crash swift and violent. When the bumpers collided, the confrontation was lopsided. Her car was too light, too small and too fast compared to the sedan which was blocking the roadway. Her vehicle was ripped off the road, rear-end first, amid an incredibly loud roar. The red sheet metal front of the Mini was crushed like a cheap aluminum can. The ramming sedan, which had thrust itself into the midst, crumpled its own hood sending plastic and metal shards flying everywhere. Its shattered headlights were extinguished. The smaller car, having lost its forward motion, lifted several yards into the air, like a feather, one second after the hellish noise of the crash. Somersaulting in mid-air, the car landed on the shoulder of the road and made three deadly barrel rolls. The accident lasted only a few seconds. The driver, having sustained wounds to her face, lay motionless. She was soon to lose consciousness as a result of the buffeting.
