Experience
Years of experience: 17. Registered at ProZ.com: Oct 2008.
First of all I will introduce myself. My name is Tina Kremer and I live in Groningen, a town with approximately 180,000 inhabitants and situated in the northeast of the Netherlands.
I have worked as a secretary for several years. But for me there was something lacking in this function, which was the possibility to (in addition to my education as an English teacher) put my knowledge of the English language into practice. In my spare time I enjoyed being a coach in English, but it did - and does - not appeal to me to work fulltime as an English teacher. The independent and specific character of translating is something that suits me better: I am very accurate and I can carry on working for hours. So in 2005 I seriously decided to continue my studies and become an English translator. I graduated in 2007. Ever since I am working as a freelance translator for a translation agency and some private persons.
I translate from Dutch into English and from English into Dutch. Serving a wide range of subjects and offering a moderate price, I translate websites, brochures, leaflets, term papers, theses, manuals, books, reports, letters, emails, etc.
Although I officially started working as a freelance translator in 2007, I already acquired the necessary experience during my studies when I had to translate a variety of texts.
The specialty fields I indicated in this profile are subjects in which I am greatly interested, meaning: I read up a lot on these subjects. Therefore I will not have any problems translating texts that are related to the subjects I mentioned.
More information can be found in my CV/résumé.
Diplomas of higher education: English translator (2007), qualified English teacher (1987).
