I have a bachelor degree majoring in Economics in University of Victoria. Currently working on obtaining a certificate of Urban Land Economics, specializing in appraisal, in University of British Columbia. Therefore, I have expertise in the translating fields of social science and finance.
Interpretaion/translation and dealing with different people are very exciting for me, and that is how I became a freelance translator. Although I am currently working as an ESL teacher in Taiwan, I can see myself becoming a full-time translator/interpreter within 1-2 years and teaching English part-time. Right now I am in the process of taking professional interpretation lessons on ASET, a well-recognized accrediting and certificating learning programme in UK. Our instructor ASET is a level 3 interpreter/translator qualified by NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd ). I am grateful to receive invaluable tips, suggestions, and detailed way of perfecting our interpretation and translation from this experienced instructor.
In addition to traditional Chinese, which is prominently used in Taiwan and Hong Kong, I have expertise in simplified Chinese, whic is used all over China.
I had spent almost half of my lifetime living in the multi-cultural city, Vancouver, before I had to move back to Taiwan for personal reasons. I am entirely confident of my ability in translating tasks from both English to Chinese and Chinese to English. Regardless of my proficiency in translating, I charge an exceptionally reasonable price since I am more emphasized on building up practical experience in translating. Those with a tight budget are more than welcome to work with me.
