Bio
I am a reliable, conscientious and creative freelance translator of French to English with highly-developed research skills. My specialist areas are: the arts; culture; lifestyle subjects (shopping, beauty, food, home), leisure tourism (history, restaurants, hotels, travel information) and business tourism (encompassing trade fairs and exhibitions, conference and incentive travel, and corporate hospitality). My experience ranges from books, tourist guide magazines and cultural calendars to company newsletters, press releases and promotional material.
I have extensive experience of creative translation and summary translation. Having worked previously for six years in the art world commissioning, writing, editing and proofreading copy for publication, I am meticulous about accuracy, consistency and presentation.
I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (www.iol.org.uk) and the Société Française des Traducteurs (www.sft.fr), and an Associate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (www.iti.org.uk). I have lived and worked in France and French-speaking Switzerland for about three years in the past and relocated permanently to France with my family in October 2005.
