Certification:
I earned ATA accredition for English-to-Spanish in the early 1990's. However, ATA requires one to be a current member in order for this accreditation to be valid. I have not been a member for a number of years, so technically this accreditation is not active, although my abilities have increased appreciably in the meantime.

Experience:

10 years experience living in Guatemala (1984-1990, 2001-2006)
10 years professional experience as an in-house Spanish editor (Editorial Vida 1992-1998, Sociedades Bíblicas Unidas 1998-2001)
I have done freelance translation and editing since 1992. Most of my book-length translations have been from English into Spanish, though my most recent book translation translation work has been academic books and articles translated from Spanish into English. I have translated many smaller documents in both directions.

I have studied Portuguese informally, and for the last three or four years I have translated materials from Portuguese into Spanish.
