I started speaking French from being 12 years old - 40 years ago.
I have had 2 main jobs in my life:
1. Police Officer.
2. International Coach Driver.
During my time in the police I passed the Home Office translator's exam, so I am certified by virtue of this; on retiring from the police I took a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting at South Tyneside College.
I had a secondment in, 1992, working with the police judiciare, 2nd arrondissement, Paris.
As a coach driver I was mainly going and staying in Paris, so I know the city very well.
Most people do not like driving in Paris -I loved it.
The coach was an exec, costing £250,000; still it wasn't mine so what the heck! The other coach drivers nicknamed me FROG 1.
During the winter I was in Haute Savoie for the skiing.
Since 2003 I have been working as a freelance translator, specialising in law.
