I have a BA in Italian Language and Literature, which didn't train me in translation but was a good starting point for the 18 years I then spent living and working in Italy (ah, Bologna, come mi mancano i tuoi portici!). In addition to freelance translating and the occasional liaison interpreting assignment, I eventually expanded into broader communication consulting and public relations work, particularly strategic communication planning and crisis communication. As a result I went on to earn a master's degree in journalism and public relations, and then moved back to the US to complete a PhD in Communication and Mass Media. ù

My primary areas of specialization are therefore related to public relations/marketing, media, and social sciences in general, but I have vast experience in technical translations (particularly automatic machinery), legal work (especially corporate legal documents such as contracts and articles of association), annual reports, and numerous tour guides and books about art, history, and culture. I am currently working as a university professor.
