Forum: Powwows
Topic: Powwow: Beijing - China
Poster: lbone
Post title: Verifying ID the easier way

Dear colleagues,

Thanks Elaine for successfully organizing Beijing Powwow. The topic of ID verification was mentioned in her recent letter. I browsed through the profiles of those on the name list and found most are not ID verified.

There is a specific ProZ FAQ topic on ID verification:

[url removed] #qa_vid_how

Besides meeting a VIP in person, there are other ways to verify your ID. You do not have to wait for the next powwow - you can verify your ID anytime, anywhere:

1)	Pay US $5 with a credit card bearing your name (the same as that in your profile).
2)	Buy Platinum membership with a credit card OR Paypal, and submit a support ticket for ID verification if the name on the credit card/Paypal is the same as that in your profile.

I verified my ID by Paypal after renewing my membership this year. If you are not ready to go Platinum, you can pay US $5 with your credit card to verify your ID.

BTW, going Platinum is not a bad choice if you are serious on international business starting from ProZ. I guess most outsourcers may be more interested in working with those who clearly showed their serious intention in this market/community.

However, they changed schedule and hope me to start this as soon as possible.

It's very much a pity that I can't go. Actually this afternoon I discussed with Elaine to map out the time table and already prepared the video opening scene etc to use when the Powwow was videotyped.

Originally, I wanted to record every attendee's self-introduction and contact info and put them onto YouTube and my website for exposure to potential clients. :( I also wished to talk about marketing and share my own success stories.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Powwow and hope we can meet some other time in the near future. The success of this Powwow will pave the road for future ones where we can discuss these and other subjects.

Best,
Jianjun
