Forum: Safe computing
Topic: Suggestions needed for Anti-spyware
Poster: Francisco Bolaños
Post title: Spybot + firewall + antivirus

It may sound quite paranoid, but thats actually what I use. I control cookies and programs with the firewall, needless to say, and Spybot cleans the rest.
McAffee antivirus, properly updated, also detects "malicious programs" that could reach your computer via e-mail, IM transfer or download.

The most complete seems to be Pest Patrol. It protects not only removes, it even checks memory.
dradum

We use this in conjunction with Norton, but you have to run it every so often (every week).

Good Luck!

I have ETrust Antivirus with its firewall right now. I have had Norton in the past but once through a colleague, I probably got the Badtrans worm despite having it and updating the reference files, some 2-3 times a day.

I just got X-Cleaner professional from [url removed] but as I said, I feel there's no harm in being extra secure.

Roomy

I am loaded with a good anti virus and a firewall. However, I would like to know if there are any spyware programs on my computer and would like to learn about trustworthy names.

Thanks for your time,

Roomy Naqvy
