Forum: Poll Discussion
Topic: Poll: Have you ever been a mentor?
Poster: DZiW (X)
Post title: mentor vs teacher vs coach vs educator vs tutor

Depending on the definition/accent, I've been each of them)

I consider senior colleagues, specialists, managers, and Team Leaders as mentors too. Sometimes just hearing or seeing is enough to learn something new and useful. Moreover, I use other people and their reason-effect-solution-consequence results as examples, learning how it may come out and why.

Shortly, if one uses his mistakes to improve himself, he will achieve the goals for sure: Self-learning/internalization is the key.

It's a 6 month process during which time the translator submits me 5000 translated words per month. I choose 1000, review the translations and discuss them with the translator. Each month, I submit a report to the organization about my observations and the translator's progress. I'm at my 3rd time now. It's very rewarding.

I enjoy sharing with others what I've learned over the years as a way of giving back what has given me almost 40 years of career satisfaction…
