Post title: Yes

When you share stuff in discussions, your connections are the first LinkedIn members to see them. This can lead to shares, comments, and further visibility within their networks. Also, more connections mean more potential eyes on your profile updates. They may react to your content, giving it more visibility.

To me, the difference is more on posts than on contacts.
The Microsoft algorithm used on LinkedIn wants you to spend more time logged in, so it urges you to post something, anything, to make you spend more time using the network. That's why the 'default' page isn't your profile but your reel, Instagram's style.
So, just post whatever it can be shared with everyone, because when you post something only for your 1st degree contacts, a nice pop-up with a warning sign appears.

In this AI time, tech companies are social network owners. So, just like in any social network, posting is what matters the most, because every post feeds the AI algorithm.
The more food the AI model has, the more 'accurate' they think it becomes, so it turns into a more “valuable” tech asset.

What I can tell is that using LinkedIn with private browsing is painfully slower than a dial-up modem.

Because I don't use LinkedIn at all, even though I became a member a decade ago. And I'm not aiming for more visibility.

Definitely. There is a wealth of information on LinkedIn too that you don't find in other places and I also like the visibility it provides and how it has helped me link up with different agencies and people in industry. I also like the posts by translators and generally people in the language industry where they share what they have experienced or are experiencing. It helps me feel less like I am working in a silo and more that I am part of a bigger body of translators in the world. There is definitely more opportunity for engagement on LinkedIn.

Post title: Yes, but quality also matters!

I would say that I have more followers on LinkedIn, and that makes my posts more popular. But when I talk about interesting projects and engaging ideas for helping non-profits, business owners, and freelancers, the followers engagement increases a lot! So my blog posts are more visible, my profile is more visited, and I get more connection requests.

Post title: Yes, but...

Yes, the number of connections you have on LinkedIn can increase your online visibility, but with some important nuances.

- Having more connections broadens your immediate network, meaning your posts, profile, and activity are more likely to be seen by a larger audience. LinkedIn posts set to be visible to "Anyone" can reach beyond your 1st-degree connections through shares, comments, and likes, extending visibility to 2nd- and 3rd-degree connections and even non-LinkedIn users[3].

- The LinkedIn algorithm favors engagement and reciprocity. When you add new connections and actively engage with their content (likes, comments, messages), your posts are more likely to appear in their feeds and vice versa, boosting visibility[5].

- LinkedIn profile appearances (how often your profile is shown in search, posts, comments, and recommendations) increase with a larger and more active network, improving your chances of being discovered[6].

- However, quality matters as much as quantity. Meaningful, relevant connections built on mutual professional interests drive better results than simply amassing many connections[7]. A strong network helps boost your Social Selling Index (SSI), which correlates with visibility and lead generation.

- LinkedIn also states that once you reach 500+ connections, your profile ranks higher in search results, making you more findable and visible to recruiters and professionals[10].

In summary, increasing your number of connections can enhance your LinkedIn visibility by expanding your network reach and engagement potential, but focusing on quality connections and active engagement is key to maximizing this effect[3][5][6][7][10].
