Forum: Business issues
Topic: "Output-based compensation"— A new legitmate Scan has arrived.
Poster: Harishankar Shahi

From a quiet a long I keep receiving this kind of strange offers, where, clients, most of them are agencies asking to take a sample test, which is common, but when asking about rates or budget they say—The rate will be based on test score. I don't know but it looks very derogatory and scam to me.

Because either I fail the test or pass it, what is the mid-way here? I mean in a professional translator what you would find as mid point, also why anyone recruit lower quality? And what does this "Output-based compensation?"

It simply means that you want translators' services but don't want to them so invented this cunning trick to scam them. And since you are a agency, this becomes a Legitmate Scam.

There is no point that anyone recruit a translator to just type some random words, you need a translator to provide a correct, accurate, meticulous without syntax error copy in the target language that connect two cultures, and people via wordly expressions.

So, in my opinion this type of offerings, which mostly come from median agencies who just want to take maximum for them, and for this it is easy for them to break the morale and take benifit from market chaos.

That's why I call it as Legitmate Scam, I think we must beware and deny it. Because it's not only a way to loot money but also to offense translators who invested decades, and gain expeiences.
