I've just bought the new Studio 2026 release (I used to work with Studio 2021) and apparently there's no way to use Groupshare on my side, as it keeps on asking for a code the Customer doesn't have as they still use 2024.

I've been trying all the methods mentioned on the portal (resetting, canceling, renaming): the Customer has just canceled the task I had been assigned to with a loss on my side, as you might imagine.

There is no way to convince Studio 2026 that I am no longer connected to my Customer's 2021 server, so here I am asking for your technical help.

They are used for some programmes to inject dynamic data at runtime or as variables so that dynamic values (like user names, dates, or counts) can be inserted into sentences.

I received an excel file for proofreading a website, and it contains many html tags and placeholders. Client wants me to work in Trados, by importing excel file. Does anyone know how to convert those html tags and placeholders in tags in Trados? This way I can make sure no text from these html tags and placeholders is deleted.
This is the type of html tags and placeholders:

I don't understand. Why do you have to delete them before creating a return package? They are not included in the return package. Your client only receives your work file(s).

If you are also talking about translation memories you've attached yourself during the project: those are not included in the return package.

In that case you should make a return package.
In the list with the projects: right click on the project name, go to Create Return Package in the dropdown menu. Do what you have to do there. Pay attention to the directory you're saving the package in.
Be carefull: if you have added terminology databases and/or translation databases to your project, delete those before you make the return package.
If you did not do that, you can, of course, restart the process to create a return package.
Don't forget: the terminology databases and/or translation databases are actually your experience.

I really wouldn't send back the package to the client as it would only create an unnecessary mess; just letting the client know that no changes are needed would be completely enough.

However, in general, if you have worked at a package (.sdlppx) you should create the return package (.sdlrpx). To do so you should close the file you are working at, in the FILE view choose the files to be included in the package, and choose the CREATE RETURN PACKAGE option either from the right button menu or from the upper menu.
By default the return package file will be saved in the [package folder name] - [packages] - [Out] subfolder.

If there were no errors to correct what do you mean by "newly corrected text"?

If there is nothing to correct, the best way is simply sending the client a message confirming that everything is ok and no changes are needed.

Hi,

I received a short file for proofreading and luckily there were any errors to correct... I am saying this because I don't know how to save a newly corrected text. It saved the file (the project) into Excel file, but no .sdl format. How do you do that?

I've found it, but it doesn't work.
After entering the details, and clicking on Next, the program hangs, and it finally gives an error. It looks as if there is an object missing.

Ok, I have found it. It's a bit hidden away in the form of a small button in the upper right corner. The text Open StarTransit Package appears if you hover with the mouse over the button.

Hi Peter,

Go to Options, then "File", then "File Types" and select "Transit bilingual options".
Then go the Projects view and in the upper right corner you have to select Open StarTransit Package.

It works, I did use this function myself in the past, but it has its limitations (reference material etc.). It is not ideal, but it works.

There seems to be an app for Trados to be able to handle Transit NXT files.
I installed the plugin TransitPackage Handler and I see in File -> Options under File Types "Transit bilingual documents".
I got a ppf file from one of my clients.
However, I can't open that file in Trados.
How should I do that?

Good day,
I have a project with a TM and NMT, the data sheet contains many entries like [quote]±(1.0% + 5)[/quote] which must be [quote]±(1,0% + 5)[/quote] in Russian, only the decimal point is changed, which is exactly what the NMT does.
However, AT has the priority over NMT, and it inserts a stupid variant: [quote]±(1,0процента + 5)[/quote] which I must correct, countless times.

I googled for Studio settings - no use, the AI bots feed me delirious gibberish.

How can I set Studio 2022 to use NMT and not AT?

I'm looking to buy an old Windows laptop with an installed and functioning legacy perpetual version of Trados.

A former colleague of mine, who is in his late 60s, lost all his equipment in a house fire. I'm hoping that someone in the translation community may have an old laptop sitting unused with its original Trados.

Hi Camilla,

Just try to log in using a completely different browser. As far as I remember, a few years ago (when RWS was still SLD) I was unable to log in from my default browser (Imho it was Opera at that time) but I was able to reach the site from Firefox without any problems.

Hello,
I am desperately trying to get my 2nd license reactivated and I cannot do so because RWS is sending me through rabbit holes galore without letting me log into my account via their link "activation support" or similar. I am in my account via Trados itself but that does not help me because my license and download page shows incorrectly that my 2nd license is not available and there is no activation code and there is no possibility (because RWS refuses my login) to get an offline code.
Before reinstalling Trados because it gave a fatal error all the time with none of the fixes working, I had to deactivate this 2nd license. Now I reinstalled and I just want to use it as usual with my Translator plus license -- there is no possibility to contact RWS via email apparently.
Does anyone know what to do?

You can always add terms to the termbase (i.e. the glossary), but generally you can only add sentences to a TM while you are doing a translation.

Well, no, you *can* add sentences to a TM without a project, by taking an existing text and its existing translation and then using a process called "alignment" to add their sentences to the TM, but that is generally something you do in special cases or scenarios, e.g. when you're preparation for a very large project and you know that you will be able to use a TM like that. You wouldn't add sentences to a TM just out of the blue, just to keep yourself busy.

You can either create a new TM for every new translation job, or you can create one single large TM that you re-use every time you have another translation job. Then, while you translate, the sentences that you translate are automatically added to the TM.
