Word crashes when opening and closing several 100% match segments in a row Thread poster: Noha Kamal, PhD.

Hi, I am using Word 2007 and SDL Trados 2008, and working on a long job with many 100% matches. Word keeps crashing if you Translate to Fuzzy and several 100% segments keep opening and closing in a row. I tried to Set/Close next Open/Get manually and if I do this several times in a row, word still crashes. The only way out is to set/close, save your work and then open/get. But since the project is long, this is such a waste of time. Translate to Fuzzy would have handled whole pages ... Just a wild guess: try to change view to Normal (instead of Print Layout). Though I am using Word 2003 so I am not sure where exactly to find this feature in Word 2007.

Your guess makes perfect sense, Evija, but that was my first step, and unfortunately, it did not help. Thanks for your help, anyway | | | Emma Goldsmith Spain Local time: 02:53 Member (2004) Spanish to English Try Tag Editor | May 30, 2010 |
Most problems that you get when working in a Word environment will not crop up if you use Tag Editor instead. I'd recommend it. | |

Unfortunately, Emma, something about TagEditor repulses me, as unprofessional as that may sound But you are right, TagEditor would solve the trick. | | | Yossi Rozenman Germany Local time: 02:53 Member (2006) English to Hebrew + ... Stop the translate to fuzzy every once in a while | May 30, 2010 |
and save the document. To stop the translate to fuzzy process, click the Trados instance in the Task Bar. Then you can return to Word and save. But, keep in mind that this too will exhaust the computer resources quite fast. If you have many 100% matches, the best way is to pre-translate the document (using Tools -> Translate in Workbench) and then use the "next no 100%" option.
