Dear Mr Lamensdorf,
I am very interested in your course Audio (and Video) Translation Basics, though I am mainly interested in video/subtitles translation. Such type of translation is totally new for me and I will be happy for any advice to start to translate in this field. Can you please let me know whether this would be the right training for me and if there is any other training/video that you would highly recommend here.

Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Lucie,

As the name implies, this course covers the basics only, i.e. how to deal with AV recordings to get started.
The most common requests involving AV material are:
a) Transcribing;
b) Translating the full content;
c) Translating video for subtitling; and
d) Translating video for dubbing.

This course should get you ready for (a). Depending on your translation skills, it should get you ready for (b) as well.
However (c) and (d) require specific skills, NOT covered in this program, which only shows an example of each.
On the other hand, you'll need the knowledge from this course to get additional training for (c) and (d).

Regarding how many times you can watch it, this relies on Proz policies. AFAIK after you've bought it, you may watch it as many times as you want. As I couldn't find confirmation of this, you might submit a support ticket and ask the Proz staff about it. All I can say is that it's a self-standing 50-min video presentation.

Best regards,

Jose

Very serious and professional trainer Feb 10, 2015

Of course all trainers are serious and professional, but Mr Lamensdorf reads every feedback carefully, takes it seriously, and promises to improve his already good presentation.
As I mentioned in the feedback I gave, I believe this course will be beneficial to translators with very little science or technical background.
I would also like to thank Mr Lamensdorf's e-mailed response to my feedback.
