We represent an ambitious and fast-growing translation agency that specifically tailors to companies and projects within the emerging cryptocurrency/crypto-asset sector. Our team consists of carefully selected technical translators whose focus lies on the translation of industry-specific texts from English into a wide variety of languages. Being the first of its kind and having served dozens of reputable clients, the agency is well-positioned to become the principal provider of translation solutions within the crypto space. If you are interested in joining our team, we encourage you to submit an application.
As part of phase one of its ongoing recruitment process, the agency is searching for professional and highly experienced translators to join its primary, secondary and tertiary translation teams. We are looking to fill the following long-term positions for each team in a wide range of languages:
• Primary team: 15 long-term Head Translator positions
The main responsibilities of a Head Translator will include:
- Performing (technical) English-to-Native-Language translations on a regular basis
- Delegating translation tasks between other language-specific team members
- Reviewing/correcting translations performed by other team members on a semi-regular basis
• Secondary team: 15 long-term Secondary Translator positions
The main responsibilities of a Secondary Translator will include:
- Reviewing/correcting English-to-Native-Language translations on a semi-regular basis
- Performing (technical) English-to-Native-Language translations on a semi-regular basis
• Tertiary team: 15 long-term Backup Translator positions
The main responsibilities of a Backup Translator will include:
- Occasionally reviewing/correcting English-to-Native-Language translations
- Occasionally performing (technical) English-to-Native-Language translations
For the Head Translator positions, we will only consider professional and/or officially qualified translators. For the Secondary and Backup Translator positions, applicants with verifiable credentials will be heavily favored. Among applicants without any professional backgrounds or credentials, only those with extensive, verifiable experience will be considered. Past translation experience within the crypto space is an advantage for all positions.
These are the main requirements for the various positions:
- Availability; The busy and fast-pased crypto sector requires translators to have a loose and flexible schedule, so that large-scale projects can be completed within an acceptable amount of time and urgent orders can be executed swiftly
- Reliability; Although there is usually ample time to complete any given task, translators must be able to meet tight deadlines and must always deliver their work on time (all of the agency's delivery times are guaranteed, no exceptions will be made)
- Dedication; Translators must be committed to the agency’s goal to become the gold standard for translation services within the crypto sector by consistently delivering high-quality work
Failure to meet these requirements can lead to the downgrading or termination of a translator's position.
Additionally, to help realize the vision of empowering people globally through the establishment of decentralized economies, organizations and applications, and to ensure its own viability, the agency will occasionally ask its translators to contribute to open-source, non-profit projects by providing translations on a pro bono basis (this is desired but not a requirement).
The agency expects to complete its onboarding process within three weeks. If all goes according to plan, it will offer its full range of services within six to eight weeks.
For service providers within the crypto space, potential clients can be broadly divided into two groups; pre and post-ICO. The abbreviation ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering, i.e. the initial offering of cryptocurrency or crypto-asset units (commonly referred to as coins or tokens) to potential investors. To some extent, ICOs can be compared to traditional IPOs (Initial Public Offerings), i.e. the initial offering of shares to potential investors.
The agency will pursue clients within both of these groups, with a preference for post-ICO companies/projects, as these are relatively well-established and typically have a functioning product or service, making them more reliable and easier to evaluate. This greatly reduces the agency's and translators' risk of being negatively affected by failed or fraudulent projects.
Please see the Budget section of this job posting for the projected per-word translation rates for individual projects, which are based on past earnings.
Please note that although these rates can be expected, they are never guaranteed. The majority of the agency's clients are startup companies within a very young industry. As is the case in other industries, most of these startups will eventually fail and, sadly, numerous projects within the crypto space are fraudulent to begin with. With each project, translators run the risk of receiving a low-value payment or no payment at all. However, the agency only works for well-established and high-potential companies/projects, which has proven to be very effective in reducing this risk. The projected per-word rates listed above are based on the average earnings of 70 projects, which include those with low or zero-value payments. Clearly, despite these occasional misfortunes, the average earnings per project are still substantial.
The agency is set up as a decentralized cooperative, which has several implications. Client acquisition and project management are handled by a few qualified individuals (including selected Head Translators). Clients are provided with a central point of contact in the form of a website and a project management interface, but the agency does not have a central office or a centralized payment option. Instead, all payments are sent directly from clients to individual translators, which is standard practice within the crypto sector. These payments typically come in the form of a well-established cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH), or a client's native cryptocurrency or crypto-asset, which can then be traded for well-established cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies (USD/EUR/JPY/...). The agency provides all translators with detailed instructions and ongoing assistance to simplify the process of sending and receiving cryptocurrencies, as well as exchanging them for their preferred payment currency.
To apply, please send us your resume (or a list of all relevant qualifications) including any official, verifiable credentials. All applicants will receive a response within two weeks after the application date.
We look forward to receiving your application.
