Job type: Translation/editing/proofing job
Services required: Translation, Checking/editing

Languages: English to Spanish

Language variant: Latin American Spanish only

Job description:

Dear linguist,

This is Joe Goldstein with TrueLanguage, a translation company in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. We are looking to add English to Latin American Spanish translators and editors with experience in dramatic scriptwriting to our data base for upcoming projects, primarily for the translation of dramatic podcast transcripts for an American media company.

At this time, we have a ten-minute sample from an English-source dramatic podcast script (Word file of about 1,530 words) and its corresponding Spanish translation (Word file of about 1,540 words). We can provide an online link to the corresponding English audio. We need a qualified editor with experience in dramatic scriptwriting to review the Spanish translation and make any necessary corrections to it. The Spanish translation was completed by a qualified human translator.

We’ll use the edited Spanish translation to record a Spanish version of the dramatic podcast using local actors and a local recording studio. The Spanish script and Spanish audio will be presented to the American media company for their approval.

If our submission is approved, we’ll be asked to complete one show with ten episodes of approximately thirty-five minutes each before the end of 2019 so that they can be released to the general public in January of 2020. Each English-source dramatic podcast script will need to be translated by one linguist and edited by another. Both linguists must have experience in dramatic scriptwriting.

If you are available for and interested in editing the 10-minute sample Spanish translation script, please let me know as soon as possible your editing rate per English source word and how soon you can complete the editing assignment once given the go-ahead. Also, please provide me with a copy of your current CV. We’ll need this editing assignment completed at the linguist’s very earliest convenience.

Please also let me know if you would be available for and interested in working on the ten-episode show as a translator or editor, and if so, please indicate your translation rate per English source word and your editing rate per English source word. Again, please provide me with a copy of your current CV.

With regard to our linguists, we value accuracy, promptness, responsiveness, regular availability, flexibility, reasonableness, experience, qualifications, reliability and competitive pricing.

I look forward to your prompt reply.

Best regards,

Joe Goldstein, Project Manager
