With an aim to revive children’s literature in Punjabi language, Punjabi Sahit Academy (PSA) organized a one-day workshop on the topic at Punjabi Bhawan on Sunday. The PSA also released a translation of the book ‘My Childhood’, written by Rabindranath Tagore.

Punjabi writer and president of PSA Gurbhajan Singh Gill said, ”Punjabi literature has included every age and though children’s literature is not vastly written in the state there are some who have ventured into the genre. Now, we feel there is a much greater need to write literature about and for this section.” Gill said some days ago, film director Harjeet Singh met with a couple of writers and discussed the issue for promoting literature on children. ”We decided to start by translating works of Tagore. On the occasion of Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary, the academy translated 12 of his Bengali books,” he said. Read more.
