English to Arabic: Informed Consent Form General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical: Pharmaceuticals
Source text - English You have been asked to participate in this clinical research study, which is described in this consent form. The purpose of this consent form is to give you the information you will need to help you decide whether or not to take part in this study. Before you agree to participate and sign this consent form, please read this form carefully. You may ask questions about what you will be asked to do, the risks, the benefits, your rights as a volunteer, or anything else about the research or this form that is not clear to you. When all of your questions have been answered to your satisfaction, you can decide if you want to take part in this study or not. This process is called "informed consent." Take your time to make your decision. You will be given a copy of this form for your records.
Your decision to take part in this study is voluntary. You are free to either take part or not take part in this study.
1. Trial objectives;
We are asking you to take part in a research study of a condition called Atrial Fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is an abnormal heart rhythm that results in irregular heart beats. AF is the most common type of change in the rhythm of the heartbeat in adults. This condition becomes more common as people get older. Patients with AF have a higher risk of having a stroke and other blood clot complications. A stroke happens when a blood vessel bursts in the brain or gets a clot in it.
At the present time, patients with AF are often treated with a medicine called warfarin or other commonly used blood-thinning drugs. Warfarin has been approved in many countries for the prevention of stroke in patients with AF. People who take warfarin have to have regular blood tests to make sure they are not taking too much or too little medication. Too much warfarin can cause serious bleeding.

English to Arabic: Blood and Marrow Transplant (Family Handbook) General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical: Health Care
Source text - English Dear Patients and Families,
Welcome to the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
This handbook explains the BMT process, including why a BMT is needed, risks and benefits, what to expect during BMT and recovery, and some resources available during this time. This book is special because it was written by doctors and nurses together with patients and families who have been through transplant.
Every patient and family have their own BMT experience, but everyone agrees BMT can be very long and stressful. Our BMT team is here to make this process as easy as possible for you and your family.
Although some families have already made the decision to move forward with BMT, others are collecting information. Either way, please let us know if there are any questions or concerns you have with the BMT process and we will be happy to answer them for you.
BMT is a team effort including doctors, nurses, advanced practice providers, supportive care providers, and other hospital staff. Some of these people you will meet, others work behind the scenes. The most important part of the team is your family. It is your hope and courage that inspires us to care for you and your family.
Lastly, BMT is a new type of medicine that continues to grow. While BMT has the amazing ability to cure otherwise incurable illness, it is also a difficult and dangerous process. Our goal is to create the very best outcomes for all our patients. In that spirit, we participate in many national and international research groups to bring the very best treatment to our patients. Your doctors will
talk more about these opportunities if they are an option for your child. We hope this book will help explain how all the pieces come together and how BMT will treat and heal your child.
Thank you for trusting us with your child,
Translation - Arabic

English to Arabic: Method of purifying silicon General field: Law/Patents Detailed field: Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
Source text - English Method of purifying silicon
The invention relates to a method of purifying silicon in which a silicon melt is prepared in a crucible, a temperature gradient is established in the crucible, the silicon melt undergoes directional solidification and at least some zones of the silicon melt are kept in motion during the directional solidification. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method.
High-purity silicon is mainly used for making integrated circuits. However, high-purity silicon is also finding increasing application in the production of solar cells. The purity of solar-grade silicon must be at least 99.99%. The production of this raw material is therefore of the utmost importance. The available silicon, accessible in the Earth's mantle, is generally in the form of silica (silicon dioxide, quartz sand), which is available as starting material in large amounts.
One method for producing high-purity silicon from silica (SiO2) is carbothermic reduction. In this, carbon is used for separating the oxygen of the starting material quartz sand from the silicon. As well as the impurities that are also present in pure quartz sand (mainly aluminium, iron and calcium), during carbothermic reduction of silicon, apart from gaseous carbon monoxide (CO) there is also formation of silicon carbide (SiC) and dissolved carbon also remains in the silicon melt. Carbon and SiC then remain as the main impurities in the silicon. To obtain solar-grade silicon of sufficient purity, the carbon must therefore be removed from the silicon after carbothermic reduction.
Translation - Arabic
