Bio

After having lived and worked in France for a linguistically enlightening period, I then spent five years as an in-house translator/reviewer with two leading Scottish language providers. I now specialise in sport-related, journalism, tourism and marketing translations from French into English.

Over the past eleven years, I have produced skilfully rendered translations on behalf of FIFA (close to a million words' worth of general articles, interviews, press releases and specific pieces on FIFA-run tournaments - the 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups, U-17 World Cups, U-20 World Cups, Beach Soccer World Cups, Club World Cups, Futsal World Cups, the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Women's World Cups, Women's U-17 World Cups, Women's U-20 World Cups, Olympic Football Tournaments - as well as on events run by regional confederations under their umbrella, such as the UEFA European Championships, CAF Africa Cup of Nations and Copa America), Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Olympique de Marseille, Montpellier HSC, OGC Nice, the French Football Federation (subtitles text for all of the body's videos during the 2018 World Cup), the Global Sports Forum (press releases and interviews), UEFA (Champions League material and a futsal manual), the FIVB (volleyball articles), the FIS (skiing pieces), the FIE (fencing reports), the IOC (athlete profiles and competition summaries for the Winter Olympics, Summer Olympics and Youth Olympics), the Annecy Winter Olympics bid, the Capello Index, France Galop, the World Rugby U-20 Championship, the Rugby Sevens World Series, Roland-Garros (web articles) and the French Tennis Federation.

Outwith the world of sport, I have regularly worked on material for high-profile clients such as the SNCF (large HR-related projects), Renault, numerous French trade shows and regional development agencies (such as Franchise Expo Paris, Equip Auto, PREDA and Ports de Paris, to name but a few), Mons 2015 (European City of Culture literature), Spinmaster (text for board games), Microsoft Ireland (for the Deadlight Xbox game), Ingenico, Le Soir newspaper (hundreds of Belgium-related press articles), the OECD (reports), Mercy Corps and Education International (climate change material), as well as several advertising agencies and tourist boards around Europe.

In addition, I have been involved in three longer projects, translating Bernard Lions' '1000 Football Shirts: The Colours of the Beautiful Game', Charles Hedrich's 'Adventure Hunter' and Aurelian Broussal-Derval's 'Training and Conditioning for Judo' from French into English.

I also have significant social media experience, having helped to run three English-language accounts for major football teams (VfL Wolfsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and the French national team) on Twitter and Facebook from 2016 onwards.

For the past decade, I have been based in the United States, a location which many of my European clients have found advantageous for shorter projects requiring a next-day turnaround. I offer a communicative, flexible and reliable service, and can guarantee an extremely high quality of writing.
