Since I started 13 years ago, my professional motivation has been that I can contribute to broadening access to culture, news, and knowledge for people in different worlds. I invest in understanding the topic in hand, along with how my client wants to use and deliver translations (visual presentation, mode of interaction, etc.). My focus is on ensuring optimal user experience while truthfully conveying the meaning and intention of the content.
I provide both English to Korean and Korean to English translations. Although not a native English speaker, my fluency (C2, click here for the EFSET result) offers a unique advantage when it comes to handling culturally or technically complex Korean texts.
During my career, I have worked on projects for global operations such as Google, IKEA, and Microsoft, just to name a few. Two years as an in-house translator and reviewer allowed me perspective on both sides of the translation process, with some experience in project management as well. It has helped me get better at communication and quickly identify the needs, all critical to achieving quality and satisfactory results.
Tech-friendly and acculturated
Familiar with online/mobile/console/PC games, both indie and major
Also working in automobile, 4IR tech, smart cities, and new energy (public and internal contents for Hyundai Motor Group, K-water, and Siemens)
* Please feel free to contact me for test translation, even if you may not need me right away. I prefer to get to know about you and your operation so I can offer my best when you do need my services. Please also note that I do not work on materials that contain misinformation, are religiously biased, represent opinions against equality, and/or potentially encourage violence.
Localization consulting/quality evaluation
In addition to translation services, I have been working with direct clients and agencies as a quality inspector for the last five years.
I assess existing translations and report on areas that need improvement and the reasons (e.g., poor readability, outdated language styles, not aligned with conventions and standards). If required, I also help with identifying the right tone of voice and translation style.
