Source text - Polish Zlewnia rzeki Regi stanowi w miarę spójny ekosystem, jednak na przestrzeni wielu lat liczne budowle hydrotechniczne oraz nadmierny zrzut ścieków w zlewni spowodowały znaczne zmniejszenie się różnorodności biologicznej. Obecnie istotnie zmniejszyła się ilość wpuszczanych bezpośrednio do rzek ścieków, co wpłynęło na znaczną poprawę jakości wody na niektórych odcinkach głównego koryta. Jednak istniejące budowle hydrotechniczne w dalszym ciągu utrudniają lub całkowicie uniemożliwiają dotarcie rybom na tarliska, czy też zasiedlanie odpowiednich biotopów, znajdujących się często w górze cieku. Mimo występowania dogodnych, naturalnych miejsc tarliskowych dostęp do nich jak już wspomniano jest mocno utrudniony (np. górny odcinek Ukleji, Starej Regi oraz samej Regi), a w niektórych przypadkach wręcz niemożliwy. Ryby takie jak troć wędrowna czy minogi swobodnie docierają do Gryfic. Tutaj natrafiają jednakże na pierwsze budowle hydrotechniczne utrudniające dalszą swobodną migrację. Powoduje to koncentrację części populacji ryb wędrownych w tym obrębie. Tylko niewielka część ryb pokonując utrudnienia dociera do dopływów Regi położonych powyżej. Znajdujące się tam budowle uniemożliwiają dalszą migrację ryb w górę rzeki. Sytuacja ta trwająca od wielu lat, wpływa niekorzystnie na bioróżnorodność górnego odcinka głównego koryta rzeki Regi oraz jej dopływów.
Translation - English The Rega basin is a relatively cohesive ecosystem. However, building a great number of hydrotechnical structures and excessive sewage disposal over a long period of time caused a significant decrease in its biodiversity. At present the amount of sewage dumped into the rivers has been decreased considerably which resulted in a significant improvement of water quality in some parts of the river channel. However, the hydrotechnical structures (often in bad condition) make it difficult or even impossible for fish to arrive at their spawning grounds or inhabit appropriate biotopes located in the upper course of the river. Although there are good, natural spawning sites, it is impossible or very difficult to access them (the Ukleja, Stara Rega or Rega upper courses). Such fish as brown trout or European lamprey arrive easily at Gryfice where they are hampered by the first hydrotechnical structures. It results in concentrating part of the migratory fish population in the vicinity of Gryfice. Only a small number of fish manage to get through and arrive at the tributaries of the Rega river located beyond Gryfice. The structures built in those locations make it impossible for fish to migrate upriver. This situation, lasting for many years, has had its negative impact on biodiversity of the Rega channel and its tributaries.
