I am a professional translator with a VAT registration number.
Memberships: I am member of SKTL (Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters).
Working languages: English, Italian and Finnish (EN-> FI, IT ->FI, FI -> IT).
Fields of specialization: pharmaceuticals, medicine, medical devices and health care; EU; marketing, HR and publicity; humanities (history, arts, archeology, pedagogy and training); travel and food, instruction manuals.
Studies: Studies of Italian and English languages in Finland (Universities of Jyväskylä and Turku) and in Italy (University of l'Aquila). A degree in Modern languages and cultures studying English, Italian and German (Dr.ssa in Lingue e culture moderne). Advanced courses on literary, medical and legal translation at the Turku University.
Other: I update my skills and competences constantly and I always participate in professional update courses for medical translators organized by SKTL. In November 2010 I won a grant for translating a scientific book from Italian into Finnish (published in 2011). I have also translated two other books of the same series by Alberto Angela related to archeology and ancient Rome (“Rakkautta ja intohimoa antiikin Roomassa” was published in 2014 and “Rooman valtakunta” in 2015). In 2012 and 2013 two cook-books translated by me were published in Finnish.
Experience: I have been working as a freelance translator since 2010. Previously I worked as an in-house translator and project assistant (many years' translation experience in the project management sector - EU, public health, training, culture). In addition to my working experience as a translator, I have been in charge for transnational communications. Thanks to my studies and career, I have solid knowledge of my fields of specialization.
Medicine: I have studied medical and legal translation at the Turku University and I participate in training courses for medical translators. Most part of my non-fiction translation regards medicine and relative documents: clinical research documents (like ICFs, RMP summaries, correspondence with authorities), pharmacological texts (PILs, SmPCs etc.), medical device texts (for example IFUs). In my work I always take account of EMA templates, MedDra terminology, EDQM’s Standard Terms and all the recommendations published by FIMEA. I have translation experience for example in the following specializations and fields: cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, oncology, orthopedics, pharmaceutical medicine, surgery, IFUs and DFUs and other texts related to surgical instruments, suture materials, endoscopes, catheters and stents, implants, imaging and scanning devices, dialysis machines, medical software, various applications and UIs.
Keywords: medical translation, medical devices, English Finnish, EMA templates and Standard Terms, clinical research including ICFs and RMP summaries, pharmacology including PILs and SmPCs, Italian Finnish, EU, traduttore italiano finlandese, cucina, libri di Alberto Angela
