I have always had a love for linguistics. Having grown up in the Netherlands it was easy to practice foreign languages with the many tourists passing through. I graduated high school in the following languages: Dutch, English, French, German and Latin. I then completed a 2-year international secretarial academy, where I was trained in Dutch, English, French and German. I lived in central Europe for a few years as well picking up some Hungarian and Croatian. I have been married for 22 years to an American and have lived in the US for a total of 12 years. One of my pet peeves is bad spelling and grammar and when reading a dutch book that was translated from (American) English, it annoys me when certain expressions are translated literally, where the translator clearly was not familiar with common expressions and colloquialisms. I believe I have valuable skills in that area. Even though I do not possess an official translator certification at this point, I did graduate in four languages from the European Secretarial Academy and have been bilingual for 22 years.
