Bio

ABOUT ME:

I hold a degree in Translation and Interpreting (EN/FR/DA>ES/GL) from the University
of Vigo (North-West of Spain), and I also spent a year at the Copenhagen
Business School in Denmark as part of my degree. I am a native speaker of Spanish and Galician.

Prior to becoming a full-time translator in April 2018, I gained over 10 years of very useful experience in corporate environments, mainly in travel insurance and the HR/payroll/accounting sectors. Back then, I translated in my spare time and with the help of a mentor in order to keep up-to-date with the industry and to get experience in the profession I always wanted to be in.

I worked in roles such as Insurance Administrator, Insurance Claims Technician & Deputy Team Leader, Global Employment Outsourcing Coordinator and EMEA Payroll Specialist.

Thanks to these varied roles I am now a Subject Matter Expert in Insurance, Payroll and Global HR, and also have the competitive advantage of understanding the client's perspective, concerns and expectations when they make a translation request, not to mention being familiar with corporate jargon and all sorts of business communications. On top of that, working in these companies gave me the best training on learning how to deal with confidential information and how to meet tight deadlines.

With an educational background in Arts and Humanities, a passion for food and travel, and a preference for creative writing, I also enjoy working in fields such as marketing, travel and tourism, food, and arts and humanities.

As this profession allows me to spend time both in the UK and in Spain, I keep up to date with my working
languages and have greater cultural awareness.

I currently live with my young family in Manchester (UK) with frequent visits to Spain. When I am not translating, I enjoy city breaks, museums, European cinema, reading crime fiction, and cooking new dishes for my friends and family.

ABOUT MY WORK:

Since 2011 I have worked on a wide variety of
translation, transcreation and localisation projects from EN to ES mainly, but
not exclusively, as part of Denmark-based TransRelation (
https://www.transrelation.dk/EN/Company), where I do marketing and business translations from English into Spanish for Danish and global companies
with a strong international presence. I also work independently for agencies, publishers and other direct clients.

These days, I usually work with marketing
materials and corporate communications, but I am also a Subject Matter Expert
in travel insurance, human resources, payroll and finance, as I worked in
different roles in all these sectors for over 10 years (which often involved
translation tasks), before deciding to become a full-time translator in April 2018.

Some of my most recent translation projects include:
