I am French and I have been living in England for 10 years where I qualified as a solicitor in 2006. There have been many instances where I have been asked to translate documents from French to English or take statements in French from French people in order to later translate them into English and I enjoyed the challenge.

Whilst I was travelling in South America two years ago, I met many travellers. The common language there was English. As my command of the English language was very good I often became the teacher/translator for the group. It was then that I came to realise that I wanted to become a professional translator. However I knew that I would require some training as it is a very specific and difficult skill to master.

I have now obtained, with Merit, my Postgraduate Certificate in Principles and Practice of Translation at City University and I have also obtained credits for Unit 1 (General) and Unit 3 (Law) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation (IOL Diptrans) exam (2011).

I am now self employed and registered as a freelance translator since January 2011.
