Bio
I am a native French translator and editor, working full-time as a freelancer.
Over the past 16 years, I have been translating an increasing number of books,
documents and websites from English into French, cooperating on a
regular basis with major international translation agencies and publishing
companies, as well as providing quality translations for various individual
clients, private companies, and organisations. Having studied chemical
engineering for five years, including graduating from a British University,
prior to studying linguistics and translation techniques, I am competent
both with scientific/technical subjects and with literary materials.
I think a good translator is a linguist with a curious mind and I am curious about
anything and everything, always eager to know more and I have a strong personal
interest in a variety of subjects, including, but not limited to, sustainable
development and ecology, as well as literature and poetry, European
architecture, history, cooking, etc.
In the course of my work as a translator and editor, I have also developed strong expertise
in a few other fields, mainly medicine and clinical research.
My past professional experience includes passing the highly selective Agrégation d'anglais,
a prestigious national examination on a variety of English-related subjects,
including translation techniques, which led me to teach English at a French
University for a few years, before turning full time to translation.
As a linguist I am uncompromising, and as such put a high price on the quality of my
translations (adherence to original meaning, style, grammar and syntax,
spelling, nuance, cultural adaptation, etc.). I work according to high
professional standards, declining work when I am not confident with the subject
matter, using QA software tools for an impeccable deliverable, and always
meeting the deadlines specified by my clients.
My latest work includes the French translation of the best-selling book Letter From Japan
by the world-famous Marie Kondo, her most intimate and lyrical to date,
and several titles for the French version of the For Dummies reference book
series.
If you like my profile, don't hesitate to contact me for more information, I look forward
to starting a mutually beneficial collaboration with you!
