Chinese to English: 差不多先生传 (胡适) Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - Chinese
Translation - English Mr. Almost’s appearance, yours, and mine are about the same. He has two eyes, but they don’t see very clearly; he has two ears, but they don’t hear very distinctly; he has a nose and mouth, but they don’t smell and taste exquisitely. His brain is not small, however his memory is not very astute; also his thinking is not very meticulous.
Chinese to English: 髻 (琦君) Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - Chinese
Translation - English After I grew up and went away for school, during summer and winter vacation I returned home, occasionally doing mothers hair, kneading her hair in the palm of my hand and feeling that there is less and less. Thinking about my youth, seeing mothers black, shiny and soft hair floating on her shoulders every year on the seventh of July, the happy expression on her face, in my heart I can’t help but feel a pang of sorrow and grief. When mother sees me come home, the expression on her face is not one of anxiety and distress but frequently a smiling expression. No matter what, our mother-daughter time is always the happiest.
