Bio

My experience in translating and interpreting has grown every year since I began using my useful skill back in 2008. Prior to 2008 my knowledge of the Spanish language came only from elementary and high school Spanish courses. I continued at the University level with my courses in Spanish and studied abroad in Mexico City at the Tecnologico de Monterrey-Ciudad de Mexico campus.

In 2008, I began using this skill outside of school. After my last semester in Mexico City, I stayed and took a 1 1/2 month internship at EuroCentro Nacional Financiera, where I worked at promoting seminars to teach small/medium-size companies how to export to the European Union, in Spanish. There I was asked to be an interpreter for an Italian client coming to a 3 day seminar, from Spanish to English.

In that same year, I volunteered at the Lake Area Free Clinic Nov. 2008-July 2009 , where I translated doctor visits for Hispanic individuals in the surrounding community from English to Spanish. I worked for Children's Community Health Plan from Sept. 2008-Oct. 2009, where I performed outreach to Hispanic members; welcoming them in Spanish to their new health plan and providing them with information and answering their questions. During that same time, I worked for Web180 as an administrative support role, but also translating from English to Spanish for parts of clients' webpages. In Oct. 2009, I took an Account Executive position with UPS where I was able to use my Spanish with clients as well as join the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where I gave presentations in English and Spanish to promote UPS services to the Chamber Members.

In Nov. 2011, I left UPS to move to Mexico City with my new husband where I looked for different types of work. I spent 2 hours a week conversing in English with 2 children under the age of 10 for 3 months. I trained for a position as a tour guide for Mexican Food Tours to give tours in Polanco, Mexico in both English and Spanish. I was asked to translate the entire 12 page guide from Spanish to English for any other guides who might be hired. I also helped revise and proofread their new website that is now in English. I have been working now for the last 4 months running small cafeteria, managing employees and selling our meals, using all Spanish.

Besides this experience, I'm married to a Mexican National and translating is an on-going practice in my life. Please see my samples I've added and feel free to ask me to provide you with company-specific samples to fit your needs.
