I am a UK based Lithuanian translator with over 30 years of experience.
Having graduated from Vilnius University of Educational Sciences I started my working career as a teacher of English. My "real" university however was chemical enterprise Achema (Jonava, Lithuania), where I had to learn (fast!) huge new vocabulary and acquire different skills, as my work as an interpreter/translator in the administrative department involved translating contracts, manuals of equipment, new plants' technology documents, banking documents etc. Interpreting and translating in various situations on any subject imaginable has proved to be an education. Courses on various subjects, provided by highly educated engineers of the enterprise have been of great help.
Having moved to England, I passed exams enabling me to work as a teacher of English as a second language. I worked in Littlehampton Community school before passing the Metropolitan Police Test in 2005. Since then I've been working as a freelance interpreter and translator for courts, Police, solicitors, Probation and Social services. I'm experienced in translating legal documents, social services documents, police statements/interview documents, transcribing police interviews. For 3 years translated European Parliament documents (MPs speeches, complaint letters to the European Ombundsman and other).
