I'm a research biologist graduated from Carleton University, Ottawa, specialized in laboratory research techniques. I've lived in Venezuela since 2005 and I'm native in english and spanish, and speak advanced german. I started translating in 2006 to complement my salary as a lab technician. I started translating research papers for a gynecologist, liked it and kept on doing it, and I've since focused on translating, editing and proofreading research papers for scientists in Venezuela that wish to have their papers published in journals abroad. I've also translated scientific marketing materials for Merck KGaA. Right now I can translate documents form pretty much any scientific and medical discipline, though I might need to be allowed a few hours' prep time (research or review) to tackle certain topics.

Why select me as your freelancer? Well, as one of my customers once put it, it's nice to have a translator who knows a little science, but sometimes you need a scientist know hows how to translate and deliver a coherent, scientifically accurare product. I'm the latter.

I am involved in scientific research by day, so I do my translations at night and during the weekend. I don't have to translate to supplement my income anymore so I'm very flexible and my rates are comparatively low, but it's something I enjoy doing and it's always nice to have a little extra income to burn on a fancy meal with the family or on a new gadget. I pride myself on delivering exactly what the customer wants or needs, and I am very detail oriented.

I am proud to have translated many publications that stand out, thus raising awareness of the often excellent work my colleagues and peers do on a daily basis in one of the most challenging countries in the world to do scientific research in.
