After achieving fluency in German and gaining vocational qualifications and wide-ranging professional experience in Austria I returned to Higher Education in the UK in order to strengthen the foundations for my further career. I graduated in German and Linguistics in July 2013, and was awarded a first class degree with distinction in spoken German by the University of Aberdeen. Both my academic and extracurricular engagements have allowed me to hone my language skills which I am glad to bring into a dynamic role in the business world, maximising on my expertise in the areas of language and communication, office management and customer service.
Previous to my studies I lived and worked in Austria for 9 years, both in professional roles in business as well as a TEFL teacher and translator for Inlingua, the English Academy and various private clients. Having worked full-time in an advertising agency and then for a group of spa hotels and nutritionally-aware restaurants I consider myself particularly versed in the language of hospitality and culinary applications, but also have a well-rounded vocabulary in many areas including but not limited to car mechanics, literature and academia, linguistics and marketing.
Being a graduate and mother to a preschooler I am currently investigating flexible working models and am therefore looking to build up my repertoire in translation work between German and English. I also have some knowledge of Spanish and French though not to such a high standard, having studied Spanish for two years at university and French for 4 years at high school.
