Source text - English The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive is EU-wide law introduced in 2003 with the aim to reduce the amount of waste created by electronic equipment. WEEE can end up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health. Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill. Under the WEEE Directive, all new electrical goods that fall under these regulations will be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol (above). Please ensure that you dispose of this item responsibly and in accordance with local law(s).
Translation - Finnish Sähkö- ja elektroniikkalaiteromudirektiivi (WEEE-direktiivi) on EU:n laajuinen laki, joka otettiin käyttöön vuonna 2003. Sen tarkoituksena on vähentää elektroniikkalaiteromun syntymistä. Sähkö- ja elektroniikkalaiteromu saattaa päätyä kaatopaikoille, joissa sen sisältämä lyijy ja muut myrkylliset aineet saattavat aiheuttaa maaperän ja vesistöjen saastumista. Tällä voi olla haitallisia vaikutuksia luonnolliselle elinympäristölle, luonnonvaraisille elämille ja kasveille sekä ihmisen terveydelle. Monet hävitetyistä sähkölaitteista voidaan korjata tai kierrättää. Laitteita kierrättämällä uusiutumattomia luonnonvaroja voidaan säästää ja kaatopaikoille jätettyjen sähkölaitteiden aiheuttamia ympäristö- ja terveysriskejä vähentää. Kaikki WEEE-direktiivin mukaiset uudet sähkölaitteet merkitään jäteastialla, jonka yli on vedetty risti (yläpuolella). Hävitä tämä laite vastuullisesti ja paikallisten lakien mukaisesti.
